Standing outside the Christmas Tree Shop I felt ready to talk to customers about the reported demise of the chain.
I had some worries about being kicked out, as a journalist there is no way to know for certain how you will be received and I try to adjust my look and tone when talking with people to reflect that.
I was happy to get a range of feedback from shoppers who came to say so long to the store before any going-out-of-business sales could start. Perhaps, the national coverage will be what saves the chain in the end. Maybe not, $45 million in the hole is significant.
